March

March brings temperatures in the 60s and 70s. This warmth pushes lots of new growth and makes still-dormant plants break dormancy. Some early flowering shade trees, like crabapples, are already completely foliated. Apricotts and plums continue to showcase their blooms and cherries begin to leaf out, as do the pomegranate trees. Citrus put on tons of flower buds, but it will be another month until they are in full bloom. Bougainvillea vines and Brugmansias refoliate if they were hit by frost. March bloomers include certain rhododendrons, freesia bulbs, echeverias, kalanchoes and cyclamen.
